FAQ 3. Can you ‘cut’ ALLOY metal tiles?
FAQ 4. I’m a DIY’er, can I install ALLOY tiles myself?
We recommend ALLOY tiles are installed by a DIY expert or professional tiler.
FAQ 5. Can I use any grout?
We highly recommend using Laticrete unsanded grout with ALLOY’s solid metal tiles to avoid the tiles getting scratched during installation. The grout is available in three colours: midnight black, bright white & silver shadow.
FAQ 6. How can I clean my tiles?
Our grouted stainless steel tiles have been used for splashbacks for over 20 years in both residential & commercial kitchens. Generally, using warm soapy water with a soft sponge on ALLOY tiles is enough to maintain a beautiful finish. Avoid any acid based cleaners as they may cause pitting or corrosion of the metal surface.
FAQ 7. Will raw steel tiles rust?
If exposed to elements such as water from a splashback as per your intended use, the metal will oxidize and slowly patina over time if unsealed. You are able to prevent this from occurring if a clear coating is applied after installation. To prevent this from happening, please consider using a sealant such as Beckett’s microcrystalline wax which stops the tiles from ageing.
FAQ 8. Can these tiles be used by the sea/ in pool areas?
For pools, water features and other outdoor uses where ALLOY tiles may be exposed to coastal environments or brackish water, we suggest the use of Marine grade stainless steel tiles. Our marine grade stainless steel material is available in brushed & mirror finish.
FAQ 9. Can I order more than one finish per sheet?
Yes you can, just send us an email at info@alloydesign.com.au to discuss your project with us.
